Why do headlamps get cloudy?

• As your car ages, the materials used in the construction of headlamp covers may naturally deteriorate, causing them to cloud over or take on a yellow appearance which can severely reduce night visibility and also affects the aesthetic of your vehicle.
• UV Exposure – over time, the ultraviolet lights from the sun play a part in causing the headlamps to cloud over.
• The plastic used in headlamp covers might deteriorate more quickly when exposed to specific chemicals, such as those in car cleaners, road salt, or car fluids. This can cause cloudiness.

The restoration process at ETC Auto Centre may take up to an hour as several stages are needed, finishing off with UV protection layers to reduce future fading. You are welcome to leave your vehicle with us or to relax in our comfortable customer area and take advantage of the refreshments and WiFi.
